Paths to reforming global governance
Chapter
Paths to reforming global governance
Abstract
Although we may agree upon the need to civilize globalization, what concretely does this entail? Is there something about the process of globalization that is barbarous? If this is so, how can it be brought under control and shaped for more humane purposes? These are difficult questions. This chapter provides a guide to thinking about the process of reforming global governance. It argues that an approach that pursues simultaneous and coordinated paths in the state, corporate, and civil society sectors is the most likely to produce change, but that this change will take place at a gradual and slow pace. © 2003 State University of New York.
