Surveys of the galaxy with the JCMT

Abstract

A suite of new instruments are currently under construction for the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT). These new instruments, SCUBA-2 and HARP-B, have been designed with the goal of providing wide-field imaging and rapid mapping of large areas of the sky. It is expected that much of the JCMT observing time will become dedicated to surveys with these instruments in the near future. Over the past year the communities in the JCMT partner countries have begun planning for these surveys. This paper presents the current state of the plans in the Canadian JCMT community for surveys of the ISM in the Milky Way.
