The North Atlantic Tertiary Province

Abstract

The North Atlantic Tertiary flood basalt Province (NATP) is also commonly referred to as the Brito-Arctic or Thulean Province. I shall use these terms interchangeably to refer to ensialic lavas and associated central intrusive complexes, largely erupted or emplaced in the Paleocene and Eocene, and associated with the process of rifting which led to the opening of the North Atlantic Ocean.
