Case studies-sustainable and lightweight automotive parts via injection molding

Abstract

Materials that come from renewable or recycled sources and have the potential to reduce the weight of current automobile parts can be defined as lightweight and sustainable materials. From literature, sustainable materials are referred to as biocomposites, green composites, and bioplastics [1,2]. Some authors also call materials that utilize recycled fiber or recycled plastics sustainable material [3,4]. These classifications of materials rely on material’s environmental performance during the service life of a product or commonly called life cycle analysis (LCA).
