CFD studies in thermodiffusion

Abstract

In this chapter, application of the computational fluid dynamics tools to study thermodiffusion in fluid mixtures is presented. In addition to the description of the set of partial differential equations that are solved to study the transient behavior of the fluid components during the thermodiffusion process, two case studies are presented. The chapter also throws light on the significance of accurate calculations of local mixture density and viscosity values.
