ASSESSMENT OF SOME SIGNATURE ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES USED IN VIBRATION MONITORING OF ROTATING MACHINERY.
Abstract
A general purpose computer-based, vibration monitoring and analysis system was developed for detecting and diagnosing deterioration of rotating machinery in power plants. Modular software algorithms are employed in an interactive environment to compute several statistical descriptors in the time domain as well as perform low and medium range frequency analysis (up to 2000 Hz). The combination of time and frequency domain analysis techniques are evaluated, utilizing a number of tape recorded case histories of pumpset failures in a nuclear power plant.
