Experimental study of dioxin formation and emissions from power boilers burning salt-laden wood waste

Abstract

Dioxins (PCDDs) and furans (PCDFs) are groups of substances known to be toxic. The Canada Wide Standard (CWS) has set a stack emission limit of 0.1 and 0.5 ng TEQ/m3, respectively, for new and existing facilities. To help the affected Canadian mills meet these limits, an extensive research project was carried out between 2000 and 2003.
