A review of CHF in tube bundles for future experiments

Abstract

Literature with regards to the Critical Heat Flux (CHF) and heat transfer in tube bundles was reviewed to determine aspects of CHF phenomena in tube bundles which could be better understood with future experimentation. It was found that compared to a single rod, that CHF in a tube bundle is typically reduced and dependent upon the local conditions, and geometry of the tube bundle itself. As a result, a systematic study in whichCHF is measured as a function of tube geometry (number of tubes and tube spacing) and adjacent tube power while measuring the local quality and velocity was proposed.
