Generation and amplification of ultra-short optical pulses from a mode-locked long-wavelength (1075 nm -1085 nm) InGaAs/GaAs quantum well laser

Abstract

Ultra-short pulses are generated by passively mode-locking an InGaAs/GaAs quantum well semiconductor laser incorporating a bend in the waveguide. Post-amplification of the pulses is achieved using a flared-waveguide semiconductor optical amplifier. © 2003 Optical Society of America.
