2-D CMOS Based Image Sensor System for Fluorescent Detection

Abstract

In this project, we have been investigating methods to enhance the quality of CMOS-based image sensors for fluorescent detection of DNA Microarrays. For this purpose, different types of photodiodes and phototransistors were designed in two different technologies, standard CMOS 0.35µm and 0.18µm technologies. Also complete blocks of image sensors with photodiodes and photo transistors were designed to investigate the response of an entire image system. Each block consist of a matrix of image sensors with an amplifier in each pixel, column amplifiers and sample and hold circuits. The paper will discuss in detail each component of the optical image sensors.
