SYSTEM FOR COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF HOME RECORDED UTERINE ACTIVITY.

Abstract

A system is presented allowing reliable recordings of uterine activity by the mother at home. A signal from a tokodynamometer transducer is FM modulated and recorded onto cassette tape. The data tapes are periodically returned to the clinic for playback, digitization, and analysis using an IBM-XT microcomputer. Data are stored on floppy disk for further analysis and display. Temporal parameters are selected from the digitized data and statistics are generated from these parameters for interpatient comparison. Preliminary use of the system in a study aiming to describe the evolution of uterine activity throughout gestation is discussed.
