Selective plasminogen binding: Modification of the surfaces by cysteinyl-lysine-dextran and lysinyl-cysteine-dextran

Abstract

A complex of dextran with the dipeptide cys-lys (CK-dextran) surface behaves like a fibrin surface in binding plasminogen and tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) proximal to implants. This ability of CK-dextran would be very useful in regulating the fibrinolytic and tissue integration mechanisms, contributing significantly towards hastening healing times and greater long term biocompatibility of implants.
