abstract

  • A mathematical model was developed to simulate the flow of a polymer melt through a spiral mandrel distribution system The model uses the method of lumped parameters over a finite number of control volumes to obtain volumetric flow rates and pressures throughout the flow field A qualitative agreement between the model and commercial equipment was found Experimental measurements of thick ness variation from the spiral distribution svstem indicated good quantitative agreement.
