Multiply supported secondary systems

Abstract

This study deals with the case where the equipment or component is receiving its motion from the supporting structure at a number of support points (i.e. Multiply Supported). The mathematical formulation of the problem is presented in terms of the dynamic properties and characteristics of the system. The different approaches which can be adopted in the dynamic analysis are presented and compared. Numerical solutions for a practical example of a steam generator in the CANDU NPP system are developed to demonstrate the implementation of the theory.
