Dependence of wind set-up on Reynolds number of induced flow.

Abstract

Considers wind set up on reservoirs and lakes and presents an analytical model for such surface level fluctuations. Outlines an experimental parallel flow model study of shear induced flow, banded by hydrodynamically smooth walls. Concludes that wind set up is essentially a Froude phenomenon, and rather insensitive to vast variations in Reynolds number. Presents a formula which uses a value of K as 2.5 x 10.
