Extended fine structures in auger spectra (EXFAS): Temperature and core hole dependence of Cu and Ag(111)

Abstract

The extended fine structures above the N23VV and M45VV Auger lines of Ag(111) and above the Cu M23VV lines have been investigated. The temperature dependence and the observation of similar signals above two widely-separated Ag Auger lines provide strong support for an EXAFS-like origin for the observed features conferring therefore to the Auger technique new capabilities in the surface structural determination.
