Antibiotics for asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnancy

BACKGROUND: Asymptomatic bacteriuria is a bacterial infection of the urine without any of the typical symptoms that are associated with a urinary infection, and occurs in 2% to 15% of pregnancies.
