Abstract

Smelter grade aluminium can be used as a source for electrical conductor grade aluminium after the transition metal impurities such as zirconium (Zr), vanadium (V), titanium (Ti) and chromium (Cr) have been removed. Zirconium (Zr), in particular, has a significant effect on the electrical conductivity of aluminium.
