A space vector modulated CSI-based AC drive for multi-motor applications

Abstract

A space vector controlled CSI drive for multiple induction motor loads is presented in this paper. The proposed control scheme includes an active damping control, two feedforward controls and an online space vector control, which result in improved system stability and dynamic performance. The simulation results indicate that the proposed system has a superior voltage regulation in both transient and steady states. It is also demonstrated that the LC resonance between the output capacitor and the motor can be effectively suppressed through the proposed active damping control. All these improvements make the proposed CSI drive suitable for multi-motor applications. The proposed drive has the added advantage of having sinusoidal current and voltage waveforms. In addition, the drive can be implemented at high-power (1000-10,000 hp) levels due to the use of the CSI topology and low switching frequencies (typically 600 Hz).
