Dinitropyrene-resistant Salmonella typhimurium are deficient in an acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase

Abstract

Salmonella typhimurium strain TA98NR which is sensitive to 1,8-dinitropyrene mutagenesis possesses acetyl-CoA dependent acetyltransferase activity, while a strain selected for resistance to 1,8-dinitropyrene (TA98/1, 8-DNP6) is deficient in this activity.
