abstract
- This paper proposes a new Home Energy Storage System (HESS) to improve the lifetime of the electrochemical batteries while utilizing the maximum available solar energy. In proposed configuration pulsed charging and discharging method is employed in split battery banks to improve the longevity of the Li-ion batteries. In this approach, the harvested energy from solar panels is alternatively stored in the battery banks to prevent losing free solar energy and thus reducing the consumer electricity cost. To show the effectiveness of the proposed approach, a HESS is developed and the different modes of operation are discussed in this paper.
