On-Chip 2 μmWavelength Silicon-on-Insulator Optical Interconnect

Abstract

We demonstrate the operation of a monolithic, mid-IR (~211m) optical interconnect featuring a micro-ring resonator modulator and a defect-mediated silicon detector. Preliminary measurements show excellent DC modulator performance and a maximum detector responsivity of −0.045 AW.
