A Classification Approach to Color Demosaicking

Abstract

Color demosaicking for CCD cameras is a task of estimating missing data. Based on different hypotheses on the image structures multiple estimates can be made. Choosing the best estimate becomes a statistical decision problem. We propose an optimal classi cation technique based on Fisher's discriminant to solve this decision problem. The new technique is more robust and obtains superior visual quality of demosaicked images than existing methods.
