Quantitative Experimental Study of Defects Induced by Process Parameters in the High-Pressure Die Cast Process

Abstract

A quantitative experimental study of the effects of process parameters on the formation of defects during solidification of high-pressure die cast magnesium alloy components is presented. The parameters studied are slow-stage velocity, fast-stage velocity, intensification pressure, and die temperature. The amount of various defects are quantitatively characterized.
