A Position SensorlessControl of Switched Reluctance Motors Based on Sliding-Mode Observer

Abstract

Ahstract-A position sensorless control method for switched reluctance motors based on sliding-mode observer is proposed in this paper. Desirable dynamic performance is achieved by appropriately choosing the gains of the sliding-mode observer. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the robustness and effectiveness of the sliding-mode observer method with insignificant chattering. Experiments are also conducted on a three-phase 12/8 switched reluctance motor to verify the simulation results. Estimated position and speed are compared with actual position and speed obtained from resolver to validate the reliability and accuracy of the proposed sliding-mode observer sensorless control method.
