Threshold Analysis of a Novel Dispersive Grating Distributed Feedback Laser Diode

Abstract

This work proposed a novel distributed feedback (DFB) laser design with a dispersive grating having its coupling strength dependence on the operating wavelength detuning from the Bragg wavelength. This structure guarantees single mode operation as there is an inherent threshold gain discrimination on the two otherwise degenerated modes.
