QR decomposition based algorithm for computing transfer functions from state equations

Abstract

This paper presents the derivation of a new algorithm for computing transfer functions from state equations with emphasis on the transfer zeros. This algorithm employs the QR decomposition to transform the original state equation to a reduced inverse system of minimum order, therefore it is computationally efficient and numerically stable. Three numerical examples are given to show the procedure and its computational advantages.
