NMR spectroscopic study of xenon fluorides in the gas phase and of XeF2 in the solid state

Abstract

The xenon fluorides, XeF2, XeF4, and XeF6, were characterized by gas-phase 129Xe and 19F NMR spectroscopy, providing the first gas-phase NMR spectroscopic data for the xenon fluorides. Xenon difluoride was also characterized in the solid state by static and magic angle spinning (MAS) 129Xe and 19F NMR spectroscopy, providing experimental values for the 129Xe (4260±10ppm) and 19F (125±5ppm) shielding anisotropies in XeF2.
