Sensitivity-based imaging with near-zone microwave raster scanning

Abstract

A real-time imaging algorithm is presented which operates on data acquired with a microwave raster scanning system. The algorithm performance is studied through analytical forward models in order to establish its intrinsic limitations in terms of sensitivity and resolution, without the corrupting influence of noise. The study shows that the algorithm features excellent imaging sensitivity, which is limited only by the assumed voxel size used in the discretization of the response-sensitivity integral. With near-zone field data, the algorithm features sub-wavelength resolution in both range and cross range. © 2011 European Microwave Assoc.
