Multi-Vector SVM: A New Approach to Space Vector Modulation Control for Six-Phase Induction Machines

Abstract

In this paper, a new Space Vector Modulation (SVM) technique for Six-Phase Induction Machines (SPIM) is presented. The machine has two three phase stator windings spatially shifted by 60 electrical degrees and connected to a single neutral. The neutral point may be connected to the source or not. It is shown that existing SVM techniques fail to reduce significantly harmonic currents for these machines. The proposed multi-vector SVM is more efficient in reducing harmonic currents, while and comparing to some traditional techniques, it is simpler and does not need high computation time. The simulation results illustrate the validity and efficiency of this method.
