Estimation of the $K$-Scattered Amplitude in Additive Noise

Abstract

We recall a recent diffusion model by Field & Tough [4], in which stochastic differential equations accounting for the continuous dynamics of the ^-scattering have been proposed together with an expression for the intensity autocorrelation function. The finite impulse response Wiener filter enables the design of the optimal filter to retrieve the scattered amplitude when the clutter is placed in superposition with thermal noise. Two possible applications are discussed: the estimation of the parameter B (the reciprocal of which is a characteristic time for the autocorrelation function) and the inference of the scattering cross section.
