Studies on tuber and root starches. I. Structure and physicochemical properties of innala (Solenostemon rotundifolius) starches grown in Sri Lanka
Abstract
Starches from two cultivars (Bola and Dik) of innala tubers (Solenostemon rotundifolius) grown in the same location and under identical environmental conditions in Sri Lanka was isolated and some of the characteristics determined. The yield of starch from both cultivars was 16.0% on initial tuber weight. The shape of the granules in both cultivars was dome shaped and hemispherical with 4–5 slightly concaved facets.
