Performance of electrical discharge textured cutting tools
Abstract
Tool face friction adversely affects chip formation and consumes about 25% of the total cutting energy. Friction in cutting can be controlled by introducing a lubricant into the tool-chip interface, the effectiveness of which may be enhanced by surface texturing the tool.
