Structure effects in the deuteron wavefunction

Abstract

The authors present deuteron wavefunctions that are radically different from the conventional ones at short distances. These wavefunctions give a value of the root mean square radius of the deuteron in agreement with the experimental result. Also, they arise from a potential that reproduces the experimental value of the scattering length. These wavefunctions may be a reflection of the quark structure of the nucleon.
