Macrocell MIMO System Analysis Using Electromagnetic-based and Measurement-based Models

Abstract

We analyze the performance of a multi-input multiple-output (MIMO) system using an electromagnetic-based model. The analysis include the effects of the number of antennas and the signal-to-noise ratio. The analyzed scenarios are for a macrocell environment, where the channel matrix is obtained using the field solutions from our electromagnetic-based model. The instant capacity in bits/sec/Hz is computed using the obtained channel matrix. Comparisons with the measurement-based spatial channel model (SCM) are also made.
