Consistent Replication Protocol for Named Data Networking

Named Data Networking (NDN) was proposed to overcome the weaknesses of the host-based communication architecture [1]. NDN converts data into a first-class entity by shifting the “narrow waist” of the network stack from IP packets to data chunks. After a few years of developing prototype applications in NDN, data synchronization is revealed to be one key area of application research that maps to some important features of the NDN architecture [2]. Several sync protocols, such as CCNx Synchronization [3], ChronoSync [4] and iSync [5] have been proposed for synchronizing datasets efficiently in a completely distributed way while piloting NDN features. A distributed file sharing application [6] and a group chat application [7] based on ChronoSync have also been developed.
