Deriving the factor structure of safety climate scales
Abstract
Since the original formulation of the notion of safety climate, many people have developed safety climate measures and conducted factor analyses to identify distinct dimensions. Typically, these analyses were based on samples of workers in a limited number of workplaces, but since they did not allow for the non-independence of the data, they are incorrect.
