CPA for a simple model of mixed diatomic crystals

Abstract

A simple model of the lattice dynamics of crystals of the rock salt structure employing just equal nearest-neighbour longitudinal and transverse force constants is used as the basis for CPA calculations of the vibrations of mixed diatomic crystals. The general properties of the densities of states and the spectral functions are presented. A comparison with machine calculations for the density of states is excellent.
