Equilibrium thermodynamics of cobalt-copper slabs

Abstract

The segregation and intermixing effects on the magnetic properties of cobalt-copper slabs are investigated using the pair approximation of the cluster variation method. The Hamiltonian includes both chemical and magnetic interactions simultaneously. The appearance of significative intermixing, for temperatures below the Curie temperature, strongly modify the magnetic behavior of the system. The thickness dependence of the Curie temperature, the layer dependence of the magnetization curves with temperature and concentration profiles are calculated. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
