Creep behavior of doped lanthanum gallate versus cubic zirconia

Abstract

The creep behavior of fine-grained La0.8Sr0.2Ga0.85Mg0.15O2.825 (LSGM-2015) was investigated and compared to cubic zirconia at 1300°C. The stress exponent for fine-grained LSGM-2015 is close to unity implying the deformation is controlled by diffusional creep or grain boundary sliding accommodated by diffusion. For a given value of applied stress the creep rate of cubic zirconia is about 25 times lower than for LSGM-2015.
