Review of brownstock defoamer fundamentals
Abstract
A review is presented of the mechanisms by which brownstock washer defoamers function. In particular, an attempt has been made to include recent advances in the understanding of defoamer mechanisms which come from research in other technologies. Also examined are the mechanisms of foam stability in the absence of defoamers. Included in this review is a discussion of the physical chemistry of foam stabilization.
