A.S. Merali Juma is an Assistant Professor in the Accounting and Financial Management Services area at the DeGroote School of Business, where he also serves as Director of the Graduate Diploma in Professional Accountancy program. His research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of financial accounting, managment accounting, and professional judgment in decision-making. He is particularly focused on how accounting information influences stakeholder behaviour and decision making processes, with an emphasis on improving transparency and accountability. A dedicated educator and mentor, Merali is widely recognized for his engaging teaching style and commitment to student success, earning accolades such as the Dr. S. J. Basu Teaching Award, Community Engagement Award, and McMaster Student Union Teaching Awards.

Merali also serves as an executive member and treasurer for McMaster University Faculty Association and Centre 3, Hamilton. 

During his time away from work, Merali teams up with Dr. Tapas Mondal, a pediatric cardiologist with McMaster Childrens Hospital to teach bystander hands-only CPR internationally to audiences where such training is not routine. Merali has conducted these training sessions in Canada, Kenya, India, and China.
