Ali Hashemi
Assistant Professor, Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour

Dr. Ali Hashemi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University, where he primarily teaches several undergraduate and graduate courses. His research expertise is in investigating the human perceptual system, specifically understanding the neural mechanisms underlying existing perceptual expertise (e.g., face perception in typical adults, tumour detection in radiologists, etc.), as well as how expertise is developed through the process of perceptual learning. His teaching focusses on statistics and research design, sensory processes, history of psychology, and understanding attitude formation. Currently, Dr. Hashemi supervises a small group of undergraduates on their third- and fourth-year independent research projects, and he also spends time creating Open Educational Resources for various courses in psychology.
