Dr. Frei is a Developmental Pediatrician and Assistant Professor at McMaster University, where she plays a pivotal role in both clinical care and medical education. She provides specialized clinical services at McMaster Children's Hospital and the Ron Joyce Children's Health Centre, focusing on the assessment and management of children and youth with complex neurodevelopmental disorders, including Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
In her clinical leadership roles, Dr. Frei serves as the Medical Director of the McMaster Spina Bifida Clinic. She is also deeply committed to addressing the developmental and emotional needs of children and youth who have experienced complex developmental trauma and is collaborating to develop screening practices for children who are supported by child protection services.
Dr. Frei has a strong passion for medical education and currently serves as the Program Director for the Developmental Pediatrics Subspecialty Residency Training Program. Her educational interests center on the evaluation and development of tailored educational plans for learners facing challenges.
Complementing her clinical and educational endeavors, Dr. Frei is actively involved in research. She is a co-lead of the McMaster site for the Province of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Network, where she collaborates on projects that advance the understanding and treatment of neurodevelopmental disabilities.
