Gary Dumbrill
Associate Professor, Social Work

I am interested in child welfare and anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice. Most of my work focuses on the intersection of these areas; on the ways child welfare can be undertaken from an anti-racist/anti-oppressive perspective. This interest emerges from the twelve years I spent working in British and Canadian child protection systems. I use mostly Participatory Action and in-depth qualitative (particularly Grounded Theory) methodologies and I have recently explored photovoice and photojournalistic methods.
