Ricardo Barros Lourenço is a Ph.D. Student in Geography at the School of Earth, Environment & Society at McMaster University and the Communications Editor at Environmental Data Science, a journal published by Cambridge University Press. He is a member of Professor Alemu Gonsamo’s Remote Sensing lab. His research interests lie in the interface of Geosciences and Computer Science, more specifically on the spatial analysis of remotely sensed data supported by machine learning methods.
His experience spans more than ten years working at Banco do Brasil, in which he was involved in several initiatives of RD&I for the Agribusiness sector. He also studied at the University of Chicago (EX’ 19), DePaul University (MSc’ 16), Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar – BA’ 12), Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP – EX’ 08) and Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP – EX’05).
He is an Associate Member of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. In addition, his work was presented at the Google Earth Engine User Summit and at the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting, which honored him with the Outstanding Student Presentation Award (OSPA).
