Dr Fabiano A. Gomes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University and an academic psychiatrist in the Mood Disorders Treatment and Research Clinic at St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. He completed his psychiatry residency, Master’s Degree and PhD in Psychiatry at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He was the Head of the Mood Disorders Program at the University of Brasilia Teaching Hospital prior to relocating Canada. Dr Gomes has a particular interest in bipolar disorder and treatment-resistant depression and his research interests include knowledge translation, implementation of evidence-based interventions and the influence of metabolic health and lifestyle in the course and treatment of mood disorders. He was the recipient of the 2020 Brain and Behavior Research Foundation/ NARSAD Young Investigator Award and is an active member of the Early and Mid-Career Committee of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders
