Legendre-transform functionals for spin-density-functional theory

We provide a rigorous proof that the Hohenberg-Kohn theorem holds for spin densities by extending Lieb's Legendre-transform formulation to spin densities. The resulting spin-density-functional theory resolves several troublesome issues.
