OBJECTIVES: To determine the prevalence of hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) and antigenemia (HBsAg), the risk factors for seropositivity and the effectiveness of a selective serologic screening rule among sexually transmitted diseases (STD) clinic attendees.
