A high resolution, high counting rate, bidimensional MWPC imaging detector for small angle X-ray diffraction studies

Abstract

The performance is reported of a 200 mm × 200 mm X-ray imaging MWPC aimedat applications in small angle X-ray diffraction and scattering. With quantum energies of ∼ 8 keV we report high spatial resolution (±0.5 mm x ±0.14 mm) with a capability for data taking at ⪆350 kHz. The detection efficiency is ∼75% and the detector operates as a sealed unit with a long lifetime.
